Our FESCo: Christine Sprowell

Christine has taken up the post of Further Education Sports Co-ordinator (FESCo) at Cambridge Regional College.
The aim of the FESCo is to develop and enhance the existing college based sport programmes for students aged between 16 and 19, with a particular focus on raising participation, broadening opportunities to lead and volunteer and extending competitive opportunities.

One of her first tasks will be to conduct an audit of the current sport and physical activity provision and identify the future needs and interests of the students.
She is really looking forward to working with college staff and offering students more opportunities to get involved in sport and physical activity, both at the college and through linking with local community clubs. Sport has always taken up a large part of her free time, as a junior she played county tennis, badminton and hockey.

After taking a Sports Studies degree she worked as a full time tennis coach for 7 years. She then moved into sports development roles, firstly working for the LTA as County Development Officer for Cambridgeshire and prior to the FESCo role she was working for sports coach UK as a Coaching Consultant supporting the development of sports coaches across the East Region.

She is a LTA Level 3 qualified coach and also a tutor for the LTA and sports coach UK. Most of her weekends are now taken up playing tennis for Newmarket LTC and Bishops Stortford LTC as well as representing Cambs in the Ladies Over 35?s team.
When not on the tennis courts, she enjoys outdoor activities including mountain biking, hiking and snowboarding as well as travelling to exciting places.

Christine Sprowell is also working for the Cambridge School Sports Partnership in the role of Coach Manager. Christine will be supporting with the management and development of the School Sport Coaches.
